You are Enough!

There are times in all our lives when we feel sense of disquiet in the midst of our busy lives. This disquiet makes us wonder if we are good enough, doing enough, succeeding enough, In fact, many observers of the human spirit say that there are three major times in one’s life where we become aware of a pronounced sense of disquiet—(1) the transition into young adulthood—generally in the early 20s; (2) the transition to mid-life and (3) the transition to elderhood. When we are young adults, we often feel a sense of disquiet, a sense on being on the wrong path, when we struggle with an unhappy relationship or an unsatisfying job. As we approach mid-life, we may have found our work in the world and settled into a relationship or community of friends that suits us but we begin to ask “Isn’t there something more to life?” By the time we reach elderhood, we often put away our full-time employment and then depressingly wonder “Am I done?” “How did it come to the end so fast?” “Where did the time go?” Check out Rev Martha's podcast this week here, where she finds that attending to this disquiet can be not only life-giving and transforming but maybe, just maybe, we finally start to live life fully and realize we are enough---just as we are.
